Bhubaneswar:ODT (yatindra panda)07/10- The INDIA bloc has called for a statewide Odisha bandh on October 8, with several opposition parties extending their support to the shutdown.
The participating parties include Congress, CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML) Liberation, Forward Bloc, NCP (Sharad Pawar), Samajwadi Party, RJD and JMM. Leaders of these parties have also taken part in coordination meetings ahead of the bandh.
The bandh has been called over demands including withdrawal of the MMDR Amendment Act 2026, action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the resignation of the School and Mass Education Minister over alleged textbook errors.
Transport and commercial activities may be affected, while essential services such as hospitals, ambulances and medical stores are expected to remain operational.
